Ag Sensors & Systems Technician
The Opportunity:
Croptix is seeking an Ag Sensors & Systems Technician with experience using agricultural sensors or other specialized tools, instruments, and equipment. The Sensors & Systems Technician will perform a variety of simple to complex tasks involving testing, operating, troubleshooting, calibrating, constructing, repairing and assembly over a broad spectrum of technologies, utilizing manual and automatic equipment, creating repair and assembly techniques. Other tasks to be performed include but are not limited to collecting, recording, analyzing and evaluating data and recommending changes in processing operations and equipment as appropriate.
This role will primarily spend time in farms, fields, and greenhouses around the greater State College area testing equipment and collecting measurements on crops. Occasional testing will be performed at other farming locations across the U.S. requiring travel. This position reports directly to the Croptix Operations Manager and will work closely with company staff across multiple departments.

Croptix is looking to hire a creative and competent Ag Sensors & Systems Technician who can meet deadlines while working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You may be a good fit if you are passionate about engineering, prototyping, technology, agriculture, or protecting our food crops.
The qualifications listed below give a high-level overview of the job duties and requirements. However, Croptix recognizes that even the strongest candidates for the job might not have all the skills on Day 1. Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but are not limited to):

Operate new field sensor equipment to collect diagnostic test, calibration and experimental data on crops in field and greenhouse locations

Identify sensor design issues and help modify design for next generation builds

Interpret data, analyze results, and provide test reports of field sensor equipment

Prepare field sensor equipment for shipping and deployment

Perform tests of next-generation sensor equipment and new operation software releases

Prepare documentation and video tutorials on Croptix products and technology

Prepare technical reports and summaries
Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:

B.S. Degree in a discipline such as engineering, biology, horticulture, plant sciences or related field or Associate degree with 3+ years equivalent experience

Experience working with scientific testing equipment

Experience analyzing and compiling data

Some experience with CAD software such as Solidworks or Fusion

Demonstrate good communication skills

Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate information with attention to detail and accuracy

Must be able to work as part of a team

Must be safety conscious and wear required personal protective equipment

Preferred 1+ years of related laboratory, agronomic, or horticultural experience

Preferred some experience with photography and videography

Ability and willingness to work flexible/extended hours and travel as needed to accomplish objectives.

Some local/regional/national/international travel is an irregular but essential duty. This requires having a valid driver’s license and providing your own transportation to and from industry/business events, as needed. Infrequent overnight travel associated with industry/business events may also be necessary; must also be able to travel by air and/or train.

The individual is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, squat, turn/twist, and otherwise maneuver through growing facilities, many of these are outdoor and include uneven terrain. The individual must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional sitting, standing, moving forward/back/side-to-side, and working around machinery and moving parts is possible, as is exposure to electrical currents. Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, sealants, solvents, and other compounds is possible; exposure to variations in noise levels is also possible.
On a frequent and routine basis, this job also requires the individual to be physically present in manufacturing, growing, or processing areas to communicate with others and conduct business. The noise levels in the facility can also vary widely in different regions, and specific workspace restrictions are also possible. Occasional sitting, standing, moving forward/back/side-to-side, and working around machinery and moving parts is possible; exposure to electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, gases, chemicals, oils, sealants, solvents, and other compounds is possible.
